I still have to pinch myself
So I now officially feel like I live in Jamaica. Even though I still pinch myself each time I say that, as I am still in disbelief.
My stuff has arrived I am unpacked and surrounded by my things.
I still wake up everyday and expect to walk outside and feel it getting cooler, which is how my brain has been programmed to think for the last 46 years. My birthday has gone by, my daughters birthday has gone by, and now Halloween...
Halloween isn't a thing here really from what I understand, no trick or treaters, just a few clubs host Halloween haunts but I have not seen anyone in costumes, which is different, but I see stores selling it, and small kids at school on Tuesday will have dress up and a parade. We are big Halloween people we love to dress up and go to a dance on Halloween, so we have decided we will host our first party and it will be a masquerade which will be a lot of fun but due to travel will have to be hosted in November.
So life will be different here, we will learn ways to do our favorite things but in different ways and all will be good. I won't miss taking out a second mortgage to supply Candy for the entire population of Hay River under 16 lol! The amount of candy we went through living in Hay River set new records for me, I had never seen the likes of it.
Questions and Answer time:
Do you miss seeing snow?
I see it, I see it on Facebook everyday, my friends and family posting pretty pictures of a freshly fallen snow although early for some and right on time for others, I still thing it is beautiful, but so far I do not miss the snow. It does however amaze me how my brain is programmed to think it must be colder today.
Is it too hot there?
I am convinced I may have been born in Canada, but I was made for Jamaica. Even when the locals are complaining it is hot, I find it quite lovely. I love the heat, more than the cold, anyone who knows me, knows this is true. So far it is cooler here it has gone from being over 30 everyday down to between 26-29, 26 being in the evening and I do feel the difference.
What are Jamaicans like?
They are the warmest, friendliest people. There are of course the daily trips out to the store where you encounter street people, and beggars, but there are also people who are working hard for their money and they are happy to help you, and even happier when you offer them a little tip for their hard work. This is the same world wide in my opinion.
So that is my update for now. If you have questions send them to me and I will answer them.
Oh and I have visitors coming, November brings on the visitors, I am so excited.
